Inspired by the marketing of A24's Green Knight, 80's fantasy/horror novel covers, and The Finals' character portrait-centered branding, this project aimed to pose the question: Is our beloved Master Chief really the hero we all think of him as? What would he look like from the other side? Commonly referred to as "The Demon" by the rank and file of the Covenant army, the Chief is more myth than man, and they certainly want to keep that distance. The lack of background and low levels of copy feed into the themes of an almost-mythic presence that this legendary Spartan commands to allies and foes alike, with striking red and harsh lighting providing an almost stage/spotlight effect to bring out the menacing and awe-inspiring stature that master chief holds, while avoiding the signature green color we associate with him to show him in a new light... literally.
